Mother and Child Academic Hospital

The Mother and Child Academic Hospital (MACAH) Foundation was established in January 2017 in Bloemfontein. The Mother and Child Academic Hospital Foundation strives to bring much needed world-class healthcare to mothers and children in the heart of South Africa.
The Foundation’s main vision is to become a significant and dynamic entity and role player in the mother, infant and child healthcare environment of Central South Africa.

Vision

To be a significant and dynamic entity and role player in the mother, infant and child healthcare environment of Central South Africa.

Mission

We aim to achieve our mission by enabling excellence in the mother, infant and child healthcare in Central South Africa to obtain and sustain high quality secondary, tertiary and quaternary care by funding and supporting identified priority initiatives, with a particular focus on capital, equipment, training, management, research and community projects.

Why

do we exist?

To lay a solid foundation for a better future for mothers, infants and children in

Central South Africa.

How

will we attain our purpose?

Through a collaborative approach with like-minded stakeholders (based on genuine care), which will include raising awareness and pooling of skills and resources to help bridge the healthcare gap in this part of the country.

What
will we offer?

Through a collaborative approach with like-minded stakeholders (based on genuine care), which will include raising awareness and pooling of skills and resources to help bridge the healthcare gap in this part of the country.

Our Purpose

To introduce the concept of the First 1000 days, emphasizing the importance of this concept and bringing about change (breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty).

To focus on decreasing mortality and morbidity rates (MMR, PMR, NMR & IMR).

To facilitate the establishment of the FS MACAH (FS Mother & Child Academic Hospital) on the University of the Free State campus.

To ensure the sustainability of the MACAH Foundation.

It’s all about care…

Without proper antenatal care, fortified nutrition and development stimulation in this time, children spend their whole lives fighting to survive.
